Lyon County Commissioners on Thursday, March 4, 2010 agreed to pursue negotiations with Sletten Construction of Nevada, Inc. as their choice for Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) to supervise the preconstruction services for the Lyon County jail project.
And, according to the motion made by Commissioner Chuck Roberts, negotiations in regards to contract terms with Sletton Construction will proceed under the supervision of Jail Committee Chairman Roberts.
Roberts moved that, “Lyon County, through their project manager - under the supervision of the jail committee chairman - proceeds with the negotiations and contract with Sletten Companies for the preconstruction services for our jail project, not to exceed the proposed fee of $55,000. (Removed from motion that was approved: And additionally, that we had funds approved for consultants and that the commission give the chair of the jail committee authorization to expend those funds for consultants for the purposes of reviewing this phase of the contract negotiations and the project. Comm. Hunewill seconded and the motion was unanimously approved.)
According to County Manager Dennis Stark, the CMAR and architect will be designing and affixing costs/budget to the project. He noted it may take a while to get thru the design process and determine scope of the project.
According to information provided by Project Manager Donette Barreto, Sletton Construction received the highest ranking of the five firms chosen as finalists. Two firms were interviewed – Sletton Construction and Sundt Construction.
