Chuck Roberts
Lyon County Commissioner, District 1
January 6, 2010
Commissioner Roberts,
Last fall, I supported your efforts to pass a “lighting ordinance” which was promoted as protecting the quality of life for the residents in the Dayton area. In my letter to the Planning Dept, I commented that the ordinance would also be beneficial to Yerington/Mason Valley by bring in visitors to the area.
On Thursday, you and the other Commissioners will be deciding on weather to allow 10 motocross events at the Lyon County Fairgrounds. This equates to 10 weekends, 30 days, or almost a month of noise and dust for the neighboring homesteads.
The concerns of the Cottonwood/Tucker Lane residents are shared by approximately 200 other residents and local business owners in Yerington and Mason Valley. This is demonstrated by their signing the petitions, as previously submitted to the Commissioners.
This motocross proposal is NOT an economic stimulus for the area.
I request that you to honor the quality of life in Yerington as you do in Dayton by rejecting this proposal and voting NO.
Respectfully,
Gary Adams

Re: Item #19 on Commission agenda for 1-7-10
We respectfully request that you do not approve the use of the Lyon County Fairgrounds by Mustang Motorplex to host dirt bike races in 2010.
On November 5, 2009, petitions signed by more than 200 individuals asking that the track at the Fairgrounds be removed and relocated to a more suitable location were delivered to the Lyon County Commission via Commissioner Hunewill. The individuals who put their signatures on the petitions represent a large cross-section of our community: business owners, ranchers, county officials, educators, retirees, hospital professionals, and law enforcement personnel. They all join with us residents of Cottonwood/Tucker Lane in expressing their concern over the negative impact of this inappropriately situated racetrack on our community, our lives, our property values, and our peace of mind.
There are hundreds of motocross tracks in our nation. We doubt that few, if any, of these racetracks are located 200 yards from established residences. We and our neighbors are more than willing to help find a better location, one that will not hurt anyone's quality of life and that everyone can enjoy.
Again, we urge you to vote "No" on item #19. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Mike and Cheryl Hagen
