Lyon County Commissioners on Thursday elected a new Chairman and Vice Chairman effective January 2010.

Joe Mortensen, nominated by Commissioner Chuck Roberts, was elected Chairman over Larry McPherson, nominated by Don Tibbals, by a vote of 3-2.

Chuck Roberts, nominated by Joe Mortensen, was elected Vice Chair by unanimous vote.

Mortensen is a resident of Fernley and Roberts resides in Mound House.

The outgoing officers are Chairman Phyllis Hunewill, a Smith Valley resident, and Vice Chairman Larry McPherson, a resident of Stagecoach.
