Ref:  Motocross Track at the Lyon County Fairgrounds in Yerington

Enclosed is a packet of Petitions, containing 176 signatures of citizens of Lyon County and Mason Valley who wish to have the motocross track relocated from the open area of the Fairgrounds in Yerington.

These signers are concerned with the impact of this motocross activity on the economic and quality of life in the area. Everyone is supportive of motocross activities within the established arena of the Fairgrounds.

Many of the signers are prominent, long-time residents of the area who are also involved with other local Service Organizations.

 The petition reads:

“We, the undersigned, residents of Lyon County, respectfully request that you, the Board of Commissioners, immediately terminate the operation of, and then remove the motorcross facility from the Lyon County Fairgrounds in Yerington. The operation creates a nuisance due to noise, dust and safety. In addition, we request that you immediately have your Staff identify and arrange for a more acceptable location for this activity, away from residential neighborhoods.”

We request that the Lyon County Commissioners honor the desires of these petition signers, disallow any motocross activities in this open area, and support the relocation of this track to a more appropriate location of the County, away from established neighborhoods.
